Pilot plant operator

At GOA Ventures, we believe seaweed is a key component of a sustainable future. It requires no freshwater or arable land to grow, captures fertilizer and CO₂ from the ocean, and can be used to create products such as food proteins and biogas. With our technology, we contribute to both the energy and protein transitions.

To further develop our company, we are building a seaweed processing facility next to the Oosterschelde in Yerseke, NL, where we will analyse the seasonal composition and processing yields of fresh local seaweeds. We are looking for a practical-minded and technically skilled person to support the day-to-day processing in our processing pilot. Are you that person?

Your responsibilities

• Run day-to-day processing of seaweed according to planning
• Operate processing equipment and turn seaweed into valuable products
• Maintain processing equipment and troubleshoot upcoming issues
• Adhere to safety and regulatory requirements
• Monitor processing and signal any abnormalities

Candidate profile

We are looking for someone with several (or all) of the following qualities:

• A degree (MBO/HBO) in biotechnology, process technology or a related field
• 3-5 years of relevant work experience
• Interest in the blue economy and working with seaweed
• Experience with operating and maintaining processing equipment, ideally in the food industry
• Independent and neat worker, strong sense of responsibility
• Proficiency in English, Dutch skills are a plus

What we offer  

• Salary up to €44,000 per year (full-time basis), depending on experience
• 20 statutory and 5 non-statutory paid leave days, plus national holidays
• A temporary contract of 1.5 years, with the possibility of extension
