Pilot operations manager
Standplaats: Yerseke
Do you believe in the potential of (bio)technology to combat climate change? Do you want your work to make a real impact? At GOA Ventures, we believe seaweed is a key component of a sustainable future. It requires no freshwater or arable land to grow, captures fertilizer and CO₂ from the ocean, and can be used to create products such as food proteins and biogas. With our technology, we contribute to both the energy and protein transitions.
To further develop our company, we are building a seaweed processing facility next to the Oosterschelde in Yerseke, NL, where we will analyse the seasonal composition and processing yields of fresh local seaweeds. We are looking for a hands-on Pilot Operations Manager to lead daily activites and help us scale up our innovation. Could that be you?
Your responsibilities
- Build, lead, and develop the local team (2–4 people)
- Oversee day-to-day operations and troubleshoot processing issues
- Ensure high product and data quality from the pilot facility
- Maintain excellent relationships with the site owner, seaweed supplier, and project partners (e.g. analytics, offtakers)
- Identify and implement process improvements
- Report to and collaborate with the GOA R&D team in Ede to optimize our seaweed processing technology
- Host (international) visitors and proudly showcase our facility
Candidate profile
We are looking for someone with several (or all) of the following qualities:
- A degree (HBO/WO) in biotechnology, food technology, marine biology, or a related field
- 5+ years of relevant work experience
- Strong leadership and team-building skills
- A proactive, problem-solving mindset and a drive to contribute to innovative processes
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Fluency in Dutch and English
- A strong motivation to work in the blue economy and be a seaweed pioneer
- Familiarity with Zeeland is a plus
What we offer
- Salary up to €50,000 per year (full-time basis), depending on experience
- 20 statutory and 5 non-statutory paid leave days, plus national holidays
- A temporary contract of 2 years, with the possibility of extension
- The chance to work on innovative sustainable technology in a passionate, driven team
