Laboratory analyst

It requires no freshwater or arable land to grow, captures fertilizer and CO₂ from the ocean, and can be used to create products such as food proteins and biogas. With our technology, we contribute to both the energy and protein transitions.

To further develop our company, we are building a seaweed processing facility next to the Oosterschelde in Yerseke, NL, where we will analyse the seasonal composition and processing yields of fresh local seaweeds. We are looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic laboratory analyst to collect processing and quality data on-site. Are you that person?

Your responsibilities

• Analyse biochemical composition of daily processing samples (e.g. carbohydrate- and protein content/quality)
• Maintain and calibrate analytical equipment
• Adhere to laboratory safety protocols
• Keep a structured overview of samples, analyses and results
• Support the seaweed processing team when necessary

Candidate profile

We are looking for someone with several (or all) of the following qualities:

• A degree (MBO/HBO) in (analytical) chemistry, food science, laboratory science or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in laboratory analysis of biomass and/or food samples, ideally including protein analytics and biomass characterisation
• Attentive to detail and quick to notice abnormalities
• Excellent planning ability, able to prioritise and keep an overview of tasks and data
• Professional competence in English, Dutch skills are a plus

What we offer  

• Salary up to €22,000 per year (20-hour basis), depending on experience
• 20 statutory and 5 non-statutory paid leave days, plus national holidays
• A temporary contract of 1.5 years, with the possibility of extension
