Functieomschrijving
An experienced Project Manager is sought to oversee the rollout of a new Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) software solution for a major frigate programme. This interim/freelance position is expected to last 12–18 months, with the platform intended to become the benchmark tool for future high-end naval projects. The role involves steering a complex implementation effort with a wide range of stakeholders across engineering, IT, suppliers, and subcontractors. The focus is on configuring and deploying an existing software product rather than building new IT systems. Success requires approaching the assignment from both an engineering and business perspective, ensuring that the solution effectively enables ILS processes while delivering consistent and reliable data.
Key Responsibilities:
• Take the lead in deploying the ILS software tool for the frigate programme, with a view to later adoption on other naval projects. • Coordinate a multidisciplinary project team drawn from engineering, IT, and supply chain functions. • Define project scope, requirements, data structures, and workflows before execution, aligning with all relevant parties. • Manage timelines, budget, reporting, and quality control, keeping the steering committee fully informed. • Ensure the system is implemented as designed, avoiding unnecessary customisation. • Drive user acceptance across the organisation and among external partners. • Collaborate closely with technical leads, IT specialists, and subcontractors to secure delivery of the project goals.
Functie-eisen
• Degree (BSc or MSc) in Engineering, IT, or another relevant technical area.
• Proven experience managing IT/software implementation projects within large and technically complex industries such as shipbuilding, offshore, infrastructure, or defence.
• Strong track record of delivering multi-stakeholder projects (20+ participants) on time and within budget.
• Familiarity with ILS methodology and engineering project environments.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, able to connect business objectives with IT capabilities.
• Willingness to work several days per week on site in Vlissingen for the duration of the assignment.
• Fluency in both Dutch and English, written and spoken.
• Strong references and ability to pass a security clearance process.
• Only candidates holding permanent EU citizenship and passport can be considered; those with EU work visas or dual/non-EU nationalities are not eligible due to defence project restrictions.
