This is your opportunity to join a strategic architecture team and guide product, IT, and delivery teams towards scalable, secure, and customer-focused solutions within the Mortgages and Real Estate Finance (REF) domain.

As a Domain Architect – Mortgages, you will define and maintain the end-to-end architecture for your domain and align it with the broader digital banking strategy. You will collaborate with product teams, engineers, and fellow architects to deliver architectural roadmaps and solutions that are technically sound and aligned with business goals. Security, compliance, and reliability are embedded in your decision-making.

You will act as a strategic partner to both IT and business leadership, while also contributing to the improvement of architecture practices and governance processes within the wider architecture community.

Key Responsibilities

Define and maintain domain architecture covering mortgages and real estate finance
Develop architecture roadmaps and blueprints aligned with strategic objectives
Translate complex business strategies and needs into scalable architecture designs
Apply enterprise architecture standards, principles, and quality criteria (e.g. security, resilience)
Evaluate solution proposals and ensure alignment with agreed architectural directions
Participate in architecture governance: documenting decisions, validating implementations, and managing deviations
Align and collaborate closely with business architects, IT managers, feature engineers, and squad leads
Co-create and facilitate workshops, working groups, and design sessions
Act as a coach or mentor to other architects, contributing to the maturity of the architecture community
Support continuous improvement of architectural processes, tools, and templates
Contribute to a consistent architectural approach across multiple lending-related domains

Functie-eisen

We’re looking for a confident and collaborative domain architect with a strong understanding of mortgages and a passion for building future-ready, customer-centric platforms. You should feel comfortable working in cross-functional teams and communicating architectural vision to both technical and business stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

Proven experience as a domain or enterprise architect within banking or financial services
Strong background in mortgages and real estate finance — preferably in the Dutch market
Excellent understanding of both business processes and IT systems
Ability to act as a bridge between product strategy and technical implementation
Experience creating and maintaining architectural roadmaps and blueprints
Skilled in architecture governance, stakeholder alignment, and documentation
Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF, ArchiMate)
Fluent in English (spoken and written); Dutch fluency is a strong plus
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Self-starter who thrives in dynamic, collaborative environments
