As a Concept Design Engineer Electrical & Automation Systems, you play a key role in shaping the electrical and automation architecture of advanced naval vessels. Your involvement begins in the early bid phase, where you define, structure, and manage high-level design concepts that form the foundation of future projects. In this position, you also take the lead in product development and innovation initiatives related to Manning & Automation and Electrical systems. You work in close cooperation with the Product Manager and Proposal Engineer, translating technical ideas into well-documented concepts. Through concise reports and technical specifications, you act as the connecting link between internal teams, external partners, and the customer.

Key Responsibilities • Conceptual Engineering & Innovation: You create robust and forward-thinking design concepts, including electrical system architectures, power load analyses, electromagnetic control strategies, Integrated Ship Management System (ISMS) layouts, and the assessment and selection of subsystems. Additionally, you contribute to the development of new and innovative technical solutions. • Pre‑Contract & Proposal Support: You develop clear technical documentation, deliver well-structured reports, and prepare convincing presentations. Your work includes estimating costs, identifying risks, and defining planning and management approaches to support competitive proposals. • Stakeholder Alignment & Communication: You coordinate effectively with multidisciplinary internal teams as well as external suppliers and customers. By maintaining clear communication, you ensure alignment and optimal outcomes throughout the proposal phase. • Technical Advancement & Knowledge Sharing: You actively participate in innovation programs, technical workshops, seminars, and working groups, helping to strengthen and maintain the organization’s technological leadership. • Departmental Contribution & Safety Awareness: You support the continuous improvement of the P&P department and strictly adhere to all HSEQ standards, contributing to a safe, responsible, and healthy working environment.

Functie-eisen
We are seeking professionals who hold • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a comparable technical discipline. • You bring proven involvement in engineering design activities and pre‑contract or proposal-driven environments. • You have strong knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, a broad range of digital engineering, design, and innovation tools and methodologies. • Your background includes the engineering and system integration of electrical and electronic installations, ideally within highly complex platforms such as military or offshore vessels. • You are able to communicate fluently in both Dutch and English, verbally and in writing. • You are willing and able to travel internationally on a regular basis and take on assignments abroad when required. • You can provide solid professional references, as a formal security clearance procedure forms part of the selection process. • Applicants must hold permanent citizenship of a European Union member state and possess a valid EU passport. Due to the defense-related nature of the work, candidates with temporary EU work permits or dual EU and non‑EU nationalities or passports cannot be considered.
