As an HVAC Integration Engineer, you will take on diverse responsibilities related to heating, ventilation, air-conditioning, cooling, and refrigeration (HVAC-R) systems for complex naval vessels. Your involvement spans the entire project lifecycle—from initial proposals to final ship delivery. During execution, you will collaborate with engineers from multiple disciplines to achieve optimal engineering results. By applying both technical expertise and practical insight, you ensure HVAC-R systems are seamlessly incorporated into the overall ship design and fully compliant with contractual requirements. A key aspect of your role is to guarantee smooth integration across departments, fostering effective teamwork and uninterrupted project progress.

Your Contribution: In this position, you actively support the engineering process by reviewing and refining critical deliverables such as preliminary calculations, schematic diagrams, specification documents, supplier documentation, functional descriptions, and test and validation plans. To accomplish this, you maintain daily communication with customers and subcontractors, directly influencing project success and driving innovation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Draft technical specifications for suppliers and subcontractors based on customer and design requirements. • Perform technical evaluations of subcontractor quotations in close cooperation with the purchasing team. • Verify compliance with all applicable customer and regulatory requirements. • Engage in technical discussions to align compliance levels among competing suppliers, providing a solid basis for commercial negotiations. • Act as the dedicated point of contact for selected subcontractors, managing scope, delivery boundaries, progress reporting, and quality during the engineering phase. • Ensure proper integration of delivered components and systems into the ship design in collaboration with internal teams, subcontractors, regulatory bodies, and the client. • Review supplier engineering documentation, including mechanical drawings, schematics, calculations, and electrical diagrams. • Update and maintain the engineering database with purchase orders, parts, metadata, and documentation. • Perform technical calculations to validate subcontractor designs. • Prepare technical and functional specification documents (e.g., SDS). • Monitor subcontractor compliance with contractual obligations and track deviations. • Oversee outsourced HVAC detailed engineering work in a 3D environment and verify the output. • Inspect technical performance of products and systems, including equipment checks at supplier sites and Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs). • Provide technical support during commissioning and testing activities. • Build and maintain strong working relationships with technical representatives of suppliers and subcontractors. • Participate in design reviews, checks, and risk analyses to ensure quality standards are met.

Functie-eisen
• Professional education on Bachelor or Master level preferable in the field of HVAC engineering or mechanical engineering with proven work skills based upon experience. • A minimum of five years’ experience • Knowledge of HVAC-R systems in a marine or offshore environment. • Knowledge of electrical and automation in a marine or offshore environment. • Quality, planning and budget awareness. • Able to work with and manage multiple third-party vendors and subcontractors. • Experience with statutory bodies is a pre. • Proficiency in Dutch & English language written as well as verbal.
