The classic wine route was followed today from Martinborough to Hastings ,a town situated on the Heretaunga Plains and about 20 km south of Napier. This city at the coast we will visit later this month when doing the cruise with the Oosterdam.
Besides the many vineyards we passed also the Tui beer brewery.
No time for tasting the goodies when driving unfortunately. The police are very strict with following up the rules and that is common sense. You need all your attention and be alert driving these roads at all times. This morning we heard that a Japenese family drove with their Campervan into the river. The family was saved by fishermen however the father did not survive this tragic accident.
Today we drove 251 km and took us 3,5 hrs.It was hot again (27C) and very windy in places.
At 12.30 we arrived in Hastings top 10 holiday park which is huge camping place of 10 acres of beautiful park- like grounds. The Campervan was parked in the shade under a tree and the first thing what we did is jumped into the pool. Today we decided to have a relaxing day and doing nothing at all. The pool was for ourselves as early in the afternoon it is rather quiet. Most guests arrive after 1600 hrs
That's it for today ,tomorrow a short drive to Taupo
