Picton 2 Feb.

The serenade of the birds woke me up and wanted to join them with a song however that would scare them away and most likely also our Dutch neighbours. After the morning rituals, S-S and a S ,we had a great English breakfast with a cup of tea.
Next job empty all wastewater from the Van after that we left the camping of Kaikoura around 9.45Am. First tanked again Diesel and did some shopping. The road from Kaikoura to Picton was mainly along the  coast, only the last part was through The mountains. The scenery was again astonishing. We stopped at a certain point and saw about 10 seals laying on the rocks in the sun
Made some pictures and a video.
.On Januari 24 we arrived in Picton with Ferry from Wellington and tomorrow we are sailing back.Around noon we arrived on Picton top 10 holiday park which is only 5 minutes from the Ferry. After lunch we walked into town via the Marina. Watched the Interislander Ferry leaving port and walked back.
Picton has a population of 4000 and is set in the upper reaches of Queen Charlotte Sound. In 1859 it became the capital City of the newly formed province of Marlborough, however not for long as that status shifted to Blenheim in 1866.
Good old Abel Tasman sailed into Golden Bay in 1642 . Abeltje , for friends ,had a confrontation with the Maori's and they killed 4 of his crew. Human resources, in that time, had also its challenges to man the ships ( actually nothing changed ) so Abeltje left again.
James Cook came back in 1770 was more succesful if I had to believe my history teacher:)
Tonight Janet will roast a chicken with warm applesauce ,jammie jammie
Tomorrow sailing to Wellington if they do not lose the propeller like before.
Cpm Juul

Ps : Info for Jaap : over 5 minutes we drink cold glass of Cloudy Bay with a Brie and some Danish Blue on toast.
